Middle School Program & Course Notes
Canyons Virtual Academy (CVA) provides this course catalog to help middle school students (Grades 6-8) and parents select classes for credit completion. Graduation requirements for Canyons District can be found on the Canyons District course catalog page. Students should consult their school counselors before registering for a course.
Key Program Details
- Parents provide guidance, while teachers grade assignments and success coaches offer support.
- Enrollment is for the entire school year, with transfers allowed at term breaks or by administrative approval.
- Students must be enrolled in a Canyons District boundary school. Non-district students need approval through Utah’s SOEP.
- Regular participation is mandatory, and failure to meet program requirements may result in removal.
- Courses are offered in quarter credits (.25 each); four quarters equal a full year (1 credit) of a subject.
- CVA follows the Canyons School District grading scale below.

Canyons Virtual Academy (CVA) offers high school core and elective courses for Grades 9-12, including Honors (H), Advanced Placement (AP), and Concurrent Enrollment (CE) courses. Courses are provided in quarter credits (.25 each), requiring four quarters to complete a (1 credit) full-year course.
CVA provides this course catalog to help students and parents select original, honors classes, and advanced placement (AP) courses for credit completion. Use the Tab at the top for Concurrent Enrollment (CE) courses. Graduation requirements for Canyons District can be found on the Canyons District course catalog page. Students should consult their school counselors before registering for a course.

Concurrent Enrollment (CE) Course Notes
Canyons Virtual Academy (CVA) offers high school core and elective courses for Grades 9-12, including Honors (H), Advanced Placement (AP), and Concurrent Enrollment (CE) courses. Courses are provided in quarter credits (.25 each), requiring four quarters to complete a (1 credit) full-year course. Concurrent Enrollment (CE) deliver a college experience that prepares high school students with the skills and courses they need to navigate the challenges of higher education and complete a meaningful degree or certificate.
CVA provides this course catalog to help students and parents select original and honors classes for credit completion. - Some Concurrent Enrollment (CE) courses can also fulfill the requirements for core classes required for high school graduation.
- To be eligible for many of the Concurrent Enrollment (CE) courses, students may need to take the ACT or Accuplacer tests and receive a qualifying score. Contact your school counselor for additional details and requirements.
- Students are responsible to pay college concurrent tuition, which is $5.00 per credit hour ($15 for a 3 credit hour class, $20 for a 4 credit hour class, etc.) and can be paid at the time you register or anytime before SLCC’s deadline.
- Students are also responsible to pay for any required class or textbook fees.

- Concurrent Enrollment (CE) courses are not available during summer session.
