Special Services

Canyons Virtual Academy accommodates students with existing IEP, 504, DLP, and ELL plans by allowing parents or students to indicate these during enrollment. However, CVA does not offer specialized instruction based on SPED needs.  All SPED services must be accessed and received from the student’s boundary school. After receiving and verifying the accommodations, CVA provides the accommodations’ information to the student’s teachers to ensure proper support. However, some accommodations may naturally occur in online courses or may not be applicable due to the online learning environment. Please contact us immediately if you feel your student’s established accommodations are not being met. Home School and Private School Participants

Please contact our office if you suspect your Canyons Virtual Academy student has a disability and is in need of special education and related services. Your child may qualify for services even if they are progressing academically each year. You will want to be prepared to share problems you child is having and why you think an evaluation may be needed, as well as information about your child’s performance and your concerns with our staff.

NOTE:  Accommodations are determined by a team including teachers, counselors, special services representatives, parents, students and principals. If you have any questions about the accommodations as stated on your IEP or 504 plan, talk with your boundary school’s special services representative.
