Steps to Register

Returning CVA Students (Out-of-District/Home School) with a CSD Username and Password

Let’s be sure you are in the right place to begin the registration process.  If you have a current Canyons School District username and password (Skyward login) and your boundary school is outside of Canyons School District or you are participating in home school, you are in the right place. The steps below are for students who have a current Canyons School District username and password and whose boundary school is outside the Canyon School District boundaries or are participating in home school.

You can now move to Step #1.

If you do not haveCanyons School District username and password, STOP and click here to begin the registration process.

If you forgot your CSD username and password, use this link to recover/reset your information.

Step #1

Click the MyCVA Account from the menu on the CVA website. Select the Add a Course option.

Step #2

Using your Canyons School District username and password, log into the CVA Registration System.

NOTES:

  • If you forgot your CSD username and password, use this link to recover/reset them.
  • If your username and login do not work, please call us at 801-826-5220. Do not create a duplicate account–both accounts will be automatically disabled.
  • The login information must be the student's information--not the parent or family log in information.

Step #3

Once logged into the your account in the Registration System, you should be on the Courses tab (located in the upper left corner). Search for the course you want to add in the dropdown. Be sure to check the quarter and the credit type are correct. Then click Add a Course.

NOTES:

  • The quarter refers to the content taught in the course not the calendar quarter you are currently in.
  • If you are not sure about the credit type, contact your counselor at your boundary school, or visit the Credit Options page for more information.
  • If you will be taking your online course(s) during the school day in an online learning lab OR at home, meet with your counselor and a parent/guardian to complete this ***form*** BEFORE you register for your online course(s). Failure to do so may result in credit deficiency and delayed progress toward graduation.

Step #4

After adding your courses, check your CSDdocs (school) email for further instructions. There will be an email telling you how to access your courses.

NOTES:

  • If you do not receive an email at your CSDdocs (school) email, please call us at 801-826-5220.
  • Now that your CSD login is active, you can use the "Add a Course" Quicklink or from the menu on the home page to add additional courses.
  • Parents of students in Grades 6-8 will be required to sign a disclosure form prior to accessing courses.

Step #5

Now let's update your SEATs registration account with the State Online Education Program (SOEP). This is a required step to get approval for your CVA course enrollment(s).

Log into your SEATs account at https://seats.schools.utah.gov. If you can't remember or don't have your SEATs username and password, use the Forgot My Password link on the bottom right of the Seats Login page.

Next make a request for the same classes you requested in Step #4 above. Be sure to select Canyons Virtual Academy as your provider. Seats requests are valid for the academic year.

NOTES:

  • Be SURE to register for the full amount of credit you will need in the SEATS system, which will avoid delays with future course requests. For example, if you need a full year of English, request all four quarters of English in SEATs.
  • For issues relating to SEATs registration, please go to https://www.schools.utah.gov/soep/index or call 801-538-7826.
