Program At-A-Glance

Grades 9-12

Ages: 14-18 

Our program prepares students for life after high school, including college or a career.

Students work at their own pace without live or on-demand teacher interaction, similar to independent study.

Asynchronous Courses
  • Teacher support and content assistance are available via email
  • Over 60 subject areas available to meet Utah High School credit requirement
  • Suggested pacing timeline helps students stay on track for successful course completion.
  • Parent/Guardian observer accounts available

Wide Variety of Courses and credit options

  • Over 60 subject areas, including Core, Elective, Advanced Placement, and Honors courses following Utah State Standards
  • Credit Options include:
    • Original Credit: earn a letter grade and quarter credit for a course taken for the first time
    • Competency Exam: test out of content without coursework
    • Credit Recovery: earn credit for a class previously taken
    • Grade Replacement: retake a course to improve a letter grade and GPA

Instructional Coaches

  • Certified instructional coaches offer additional support with course content alongside course teachers

Multiple Course Access

  • Students can take up to ??? courses per quarter ????

Final Exams

  • All CVA courses require a proctored final exam taken at a CVA testing center 
  • Virtual testing available for Out of District students residing >30 miles from the nearest testing center
  • Testing times and locations:
    • CVA Testing Center:  located at Diamond Ridge High School
      • Daily, prescheduled appointments Monday – Friday
      • Walk-ins – Wednesday and Thursdays 8a-11a
      • Evenings – Tuesdays 4p – 6:30p (during the school year)
    • CSD High Schools
      • After-school appointments at each Canyons District High School

Session Calendar

  • Quarterly session calendar that maximizes course accessibility for students in Grades 9-12 to assist with successful completion.
  • Courses are available in five  sessions during the academic year.  Some courses for Grades 9-12 are not available during the summer session.
